Are you feeling like feeding your new puppy or kitten just dry food doesn’t seem like enough? They are growing and you want to make sure they are getting all the nutrition they need for their developing little bodies.
At Rouse Hill Family Vets our main recommendation for all growing puppies and kittens is a dry food diet. The reason for this is that high premium diets are formulated by veterinary nutritionists who have done years of research to determine how to ensure all your puppy’s or kitten’s needs are met in that one diet.
What dry food do I feed?
There are so many options and a lot of brands will try and sell you on theirs. However, choosing the right one for your pet is important. We do not try to “sell” you on one particular brand but instead give you a range of information to help you make the right decision for your pet. This can be a number of different brands such as VetOne, Delicate Care, Hill Science Diet, Royal Canin, and a few more. These foods may be more costly but have had years and years worth of research to ensure they cover everything your growing fur member needs. This includes ensuring the right protein, grain, supplements, and vitamins are used to give your pet the best start in life. As they have been formulated specifically for your pet, this usually means the amount you need to feed is far less than your normal supermarket brands.
What if I don’t want to feed my pet dry food?
This is very much a personal choice and there is no judgment on our behalf, the only advice we do provide is ensuring you do your research and ask questions. A lot more goes into a dogs/cats diet than just a protein source and fillers. Ensure that what you decide to feed your pet contains everything your growing fur-friend needs.
We understand there is so much different information and diet options out there and it can be overwhelming, we are more than happy to provide advice or answer any questions you may have.
