Full Time Veterinary Nurse

We’re a small animal veterinary hospital who recognise the link between the emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients and are proactive about reducing their fear, anxiety and stress during our veterinary visits.

  • Certificate IV veterinary nursing qualification or similar

  • Minimum 2 years full time nursing experience (or equivalent)

This role is a full-time position that reports directly to our head nurses Brittany and Charlotte, while also working closely with other key members of the team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team based consulting – starting and assisting in vet consults

  • Running nurse consultations including dental checks, puppy and kitten preventative care visits, friendly visits, arthritis injections, weight checks, nail trims, adolescent health checks, allergy injections, post operative checks, routine blood screens and more

  • Admitting and discharging surgical patients

  • Administering anaesthetic (under direct veterinary supervision), monitoring and recovering anaesthetic patients

  • Collecting blood samples, placing intravenous catheters, administering medications

  • Running a variety of in house pathology services including blood, urine, and faecal tests

  • Taking radiographs (both full body and dental radiographs)

  • Providing care for hospitalised patients

  • Maintaining and servicing equipment as required

Here’s what you’ll get when you join the Rouse Hill Family Vets Team:

Full Training and Support – Every new team member will go through a 6 week induction program and in house mentor to ensure you are on boarded and trained in our protocols. We also close the clinic every Tuesday for meetings which rotate between full team meeting, external team training, split nurse & vet meeting and in house training.

Certifications and Memberships – All of our staff are Fear Free Certified Professionals and we pay for your training and annual membership. In addition we pay for all of our nurses to be Registered Veterinary Nurses. We also cover cost of

Continuing Education Allowance: We value continuing education for all of our veterinary team so you will earn 1 week’s paid study leave per year and an allowance which can be used towards furthering your education. We also have visiting experts who train us as a team – we are so excited to welcome Alison Lambert for team training in May! This will be a must attend for all of our staff including our newest addition.

Team Building Events: We run quarterly team building events and celebrate special occasions with our team. This includes an annual weekend away camping at Glenworth Valley. In the past we have hung out doing escape rooms, pinot and picasso, party boat on the Nepean River, bowling and laser tag, yoga classes, vintage ice cream truck visit and more.

Generous salary – We know the award is bare minimum and so we pay above award and provide additional benefits such as a generous staff discount, Fear Free membership, high rate of pay for working Saturdays, closed for Public Holidays and closed between Christmas and New Year.

We provide circle of life petcare which involves guiding pet owner’s through their pet’s needs at every stage of their life and customising their care as needed. We recognise the link between the emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients and are proactive about reducing their fear, anxiety and stress during our veterinary visits. By helping pets to be more relaxed for their veterinary care, we find that in turn reduces the pet owners stress as well.
